Peer pressure

Hey guys, it’s me again. I hope you love my blog because I’m about to take you on another adventure. So buck up people and have some fun while reading.

Soo, we are going to be discussing peer pressure today and other things associated with it. So let’s go people.

We know peer pressure to be influence from one’s friend’s or peers derived from emphasis of a subject or topic. In a simple language, it’s just the influence you get from continuous acts or discussions. This is an issue affecting our teenagers, youth and also the older younger generation.

Most people don’t “want to be alone”. In the real sense of it, they just don’t want to have to do things by themselves. Whether it’s good or bad. That’s why we have friends right. Yes it is.

Peer pressure can be negative or positive. The negatives help deplete our morals and the positives help build them up.

We will be talking about resisting negative peer pressure and making use of positive ones.

Not all positive pressure will help you, but that doesn’t mean they are not good. Always remember that no one should force you to do what you don’t want to, make your decisions and make them right.

I never said we should disobey or oppose our parents instructions. They know what’s best for us and have our best interest at heart.

Here are some steps to making better decisions in life, and a way of avoiding peer pressure.

  • Identify the decisions to be made.
  • List the choices of alternatives.
  • Analyze the choices.
  • Pick the best alternative.
  • Act on your decision.

How to resist negative peer pressure.

Know and understand your purpose.

If we know what we have to do, we won’t be distracted by side attractions. We will set a goal and be able to achieve it.

Setting the right goals.

When we know that we have things to do, we will be more and more prone to see the right choices, because we know what we want and what we have to do to make a difference.

To drift a little. Our goals must be:

S—- Specific

M—- Measurable

A—– Achievable

R—– Realistic

T—– Time bound

Ability to reject

Some people can’t say no to some things even when they do not want it. This will give them issues because they will not be able to reject moreso when under pressure. Soo they will just go with the idea, when it’s not really what they want.

Having the right people around.

When we have the right people around us, they will also help us to ponder on the decisions we want to make thereby helping to make better choices. We won’t rely only on our knowledge and understanding.

Having a clear head

We are not to make decisions when angry or happy. It can obscure our thinking and make us feel we have made the best decision when it’s really not.

The last and definitely not the least,

Ask for help.

God directs us when we ask him for help. As a child of God, the holy spirit will help us to decide on matters. And this will really help us because our God knows best.

Soooo, that’s it for today. I really hope you enjoyed this post and that was helpful. Please don’t forget to follow, like, comment and share. Don’t let the fun end with you please, pass it on. Bye for now.
